There is a part of all of us that thinks to have a special day out we need to go far afield or spend lots of money. We are all guilty of it as we are increasingly time poor we want to make family time really special and do exciting things. On a recent visit to a local park in a small market town in Yorkshire we had a special day and made family time count and spent a big fat zero. It really is a wonderful park that you should visit.
Centre Vale Park has been left with all of the old Victorian features, that although rough around the edges still add grandeur. There are so many open spaces for Sebastian to explore and the bulbs have started to poke through too.
One of the absolute gems in this park is the vivarium. It is small and houses a few snakes, one very large spider, some fish and, Sebastian’s favourite, the terrapins, or as he calls them sea turtles, (he is only two)! The fact that it is warm is an added bonus in colder months and a nice place to warm up after the play area or general running around. Have you ever noticed that you don’t warm up as much running with mini people because their legs are so goddamn short, I digress.
We enjoyed exploring the park, seeing the old walls of the manor house and petting the lucky dog sculpture, Sebastian even had a go at reading about it all, not a successful one but very cute all the same.
If you can visit this park and remember to explore any local gems near you, special does not need to cost anything memories are made up of smiles not pound signs.
