I am not one to run away from heavy building work happening around me but when that work is removing three flights of broken stairs and rebuilding them. And when you have a two year old that knows no fear and a dog who is built for love and not smarts it is time to pack up the car and go on holiday.
We spent the most amazing week in Wales, here are some of the snaps from one of the many days we spent on the beach at Church Bay. We drove to our Air Bnb and it was late so we couldn’t make it to the beach on the first day. All the previous week we had been talking about holidays and he was so excited that he woke up at 5am saying “Mummy quick it’s holidays let’s go to the seaside”. This was so cute and so out of character my boy needs to be woken up in the morning, probably because he won’t sleep at night. So we were left with a lot of time that morning to get dressed and have breakfast.
I love that everything is such a serious business when you are a toddler even digging in sand. I have many skills but successful rockpooling is not one of them. My eyes are bad and I am slow so daddy and Sebastian went to see what they could find and they brought back a prawn, I think, and yes we freed it.
It was a holiday born out of needing to vacate the house and it was not until I arrived in Wales that we realised how much we needed it. We spend a lot of time together in fact it is just us most of the time so I think we forgot that there is a difference between being together and running around doing jobs in the house, tag team working, generally running around feeling like we are constantly playing catch up and being together when we have just stopped. No house to clean, me not sitting on the laptop writing, no ironing no daily life just enjoying each other.
I loved seeing Joe getting more day light hours with Sebastian. The little man is going through a phase of missing Joe during the day and then being angry with him when he gets home. It is understandable because big emotions are hard for little people to work through but it is really hard for Joe.
We even had a go at some Andy Goldsworthy creations on the beach. No matter how quickly time marches on, and it is marching on really fast it never ceases to amaze me how much he can melt my heart. “Mummy I love the seaside so much. I want to stay here all day”
