Typically a tea bread is a heavier cake containing fruit that can be served with butter. You can make any number of variants however it is compulsory to serve it with a fresh hot pot of tea, in my opinion any how. Tea bread makes a great supper time treat.
you will need;
1lb bananas (peeled weight)
225g self raising flour
1/4 cup agave syrup
100g caster sugar
30g poppy seeds
1 large egg
Mash your bananas well, combine with the egg and set aside in a bowl. It is best to use slightly over ripe bananas for this.
Preheat your oven to 180C, grease a loaf tin and line with baking parchment.
Cream your butter and sugar together until light and creamy, mix the flour through.
Fold the banana mixture into to the flour mix.
Stir through the poppy seeds and the agave syrup and pour into the loaf tin.
Bake in the centre of the oven for an hour. You may need to loosely cover the top of the loaf tin with brown paper to prevent it from burning.
