It is here the first day of advent. I suppose you are thinking it is too late to make a calendar. You are wrong you can make this in the time it takes you to watch a Christmas film and drink a bottle of mulled wine. The beauty of this calendar is it also helps you keep focused on the importance of the season, spending time with one another.
Write down 24 activities you can do together/as a family or even by yourself (if you want a little alone time) Anything from attend a carol concert to write Christmas cards or watch a film and eat mince pies.
Write each of these down on separate slips of paper.
I chose to use my dymo label maker and scrapbooking paper to create the numbers. You can use anything you like. Using small dinner money envelopes with a tiny drawing of a tree or holly in each corner would work well also.
Next I punched holes at the top of both the numbers and the activity slips. I put braids at the top of the numbers so that they can be easily used next year!
I attached my activity slips to some twisted hazel. They would also look great around a fireplace or simply suspended from a large window recess or banister rail. Learn to use the areas in your home to their full advantage.
