This drink is a lovely warming treat to enjoy whenever the weather gets cold, it is something that I enjoy often. This is also a great treat for children or anyone else who may pop over during the holidays in need of a non alcoholic beverage.
I find it such a comfort to have a hot drink, whatever the weather. There is something about holding a warm cup and feeling the warmth move through you that makes you feel better. Calms your nerves and sooths the soul. My granny died earlier this year, she was such a huge part of my life and I will never stop missing her. She was the queen of the hot drinks used as a problem solver. She always knew the right hot drink for the situation, now every time I seek out a hot drink for comfort it is like she is there with me. I think it is really nice when we can hold onto a person with simple things that will remain part of our daily routine.
you will need;
1ltr apple juice
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2tsp ground ginger
1 star anise
1/2tsp grated nutmeg
4 cloves
method;
- Simply heat all in the ingredients, simmer for at least 20 minutes and serve hot! You may decided to add an apple slice and cinnamon stick as a garnish.
