So 17 weeks is here and I am still managing to stay out of maternity clothes. I have had people say to me that when you are pregnant there is no point in trying to wear things that are nice. That I should just buy cheap leggings and oversized tees for the duration. Now my opinion on this is that if doing that makes you feel comfortable that is fine for you. I however do not feel happy with that. When you are pregnant your body is going through so many changes both physically, mentally and emotionally.
For me part of being emotionally happy and healthy is being happy with the way I look with my ever changing body. During the first 16 weeks of nausea I was happy just to wear clothes that did not touch my stomach at all, so this stage for me is great for me to start feeling good about myself again.
The weather is hot and humid right now so this thin cotton vintage Mexican dress is ideal attire. Plus it allows me to pay homage to an amazing artist and interesting woman, (a hero of mine) Frida Khalo.
I shared a this hair tutorial in this previous post. I have to say I was worried that a woman in her mid thirties might not be able to pull off a floral crown but I am now addicted and want to put flowers in my hair all the time.
This is a dress that worked just as well without the bump just like the one I wore for the 16 week post. I would love to hear your thoughts on maternity style and if you have links to your own blogs please feel free to share links in the comment boxes below.
